February 7, 2016

Dear Quashnet School Community,

We are SO fortunate in Mashpee to have wonderful, caring, and talented school counselors at all of our schools.  Last week was National School Counselors Week and I want to acknowledge the OUTSTANDING counselors at Quashnet School.
Mrs. McCue, Mrs. Morrison, and Mr. Withington you are AMAZING and appreciated for all you do for all of us!

Fifth-grade students in Mrs. Mayen's class know that every minute counts in school by the date, day, in fractions, decimals, and percents.  It is hard to believe that over 50% of the school year is over.
There is plenty of time to make this the BEST SCHOOL YEAR EVER!  Effort makes the difference!

Check out these kind students -
Thank you K-Kids for sponsoring
                Kindness Bingo at Quashnet School.

#KINDNESS
All participants are winners in my book!

Again we have a special event to look forward to this week. On Friday, fifth graders will be exploring all there is to know about water as our gym transforms into an interactive water festival.  Twenty-four Americorp volunteers will be at Quashnet to host the event.  This has become an annual happening for our fifth-grade students and a wonderful learning experience!

On Thursday, February 25th, Mrs. Giuggio and Mrs. Avtges are organizing a FABULOUS, interactive, and creative STEM NIGHT at Quashnet School. Quashnet teachers are planning new and engaging activities.  Please mark your calendars and join us for a GREAT NIGHT!  Students must be accompanied by a parent; siblings are more than welcome to attend!

Lastly, I wish you all a safe and rejuvenating February vacation (February 15-19).  Be sure to stimulate the mind - visit a library, read a great book, tour a museum or aquarium.  Get your Clams Card ready and check out this link - Museum Passes at Mashpee Public Library for great opportunities.

Fourth graders sure seemed to enjoy their trip to the Cotuit Arts Center.  Thank you, Mrs. Richards, for organizing this worthwhile trip - check out the happy and engaged faces in this week's pics!

Create great family moments and memories!

Next Blog Update:  February 21, 2016.

Respectfully,
Mrs. O'Brien
