January 31, 2016

Greetings Quashnet School Community,

MONDAY, February 1, 2016, is an EARLY RELEASE DAY for students.  Students will be dismissed at 11:30 AM.  Please be sure to send in a note if your child will have any change in dismissal procedures.

Thank you to the PTO for  bringing DJ Ooch to Quashnet School on Friday to share his message of  Kindness is FREE and should be given without expectations. Be sure to ask your child(ren) about the assembly and how we are going to follow DJ Ooch's kindness right here at Quashnet by "paying it forward!" I will give you a clue, it's about sharing!
Thank you for your support of PTO fundraisers. This is how great programs like this come to our school and benefits all of the students. It takes a village!

Congratulations
to the new inductees of the
Quashnet School National Elementary Honor Society.

Mrs. Babich, the QS Chapter advisor,
and the sixth-grade members welcomed new fifth grade inductees Thursday evening at Quashnet School.

Participation in the NEHS is based on the four pillars:
Leadership, Scholarship, Character, and Service.

Session 2 of the after school clubs begin this week on Tuesday, February 2nd.  Club confirmations were sent home last week on a yellow slip with the dates for participation.  There are four sessions for pottery and 2 sessions for Minecraft.  Please be sure to check the dates.  If you have any questions email Mrs. Emery at jemery@mashpee.k12.ma.us and she will be able to help you.

FRIDAY is National Wear RED for Woman Day to bring attention to a fight against heart disease and stroke. "It’s time to put our hearts into it and Go Red For Women®" - hope you will all participate in this awareness day!

Can you believe it is only two weeks before February break?  This time of year, the pace of academics picks up and expectations are increasing making it so important that children are at school. Let's make the most of these two weeks ahead.  It is important for students to work hard, stay focused, and put forth their best effort - vacation is much more appreciated when it has been earned!

Speaking of earning things - look who is doing the morning announcements! Alyson used her earned right choice tickets to read the announcements - and she did a magnificent job! Well done Alyson, on making all those right choices!

Please reinforce with your children the value of right choice tickets.  They are given to children who make the right choice - be sure to ask why they received their tickets.

Listen and look for the Falcon Five!
What we pay attention to grows!

Have a wonderful week ahead.  I hope you had an opportunity to enjoy this beautiful spring-like day!
Respectfully,
Mrs. O'Brien
