November 1, 2015

Greetings Quashnet School Community,

Have you changed your clocks yet?  It is time to "fall back!" I trust everyone had a safe and fun Halloween.  Just a reminder about Halloween candy, if there is an abundance in your house and want to donate some please know we have just the right place for it.  Our wonderful teachers and students are continuing the Quashnet tradition of sending candy care packages to our troops. Be sure to let us know if you have a loved one deployed overseas or at any base away from home, we would be happy to add them to the list to receive one of these tasty care packages.

November brings a very special annual tradition at Quashnet School.  Students, teachers, and all staff members honor our veterans at a very touching Veterans Day Assembly. This is part of the national initiative "Take a Veteran to School Day." The Veterans Assembly will be held in the Quashnet School gym on Tuesday, November 10 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  The assembly is followed by lunch for the veterans from 11:05 AM to 12:00 PM with fifth and sixth graders. We are in need of pictures of students' family members, both past and present. who have served or are serving in the military.   Please send photos to jrastallis@mashpee.k12.ma.us or ewunder@mashpee.k12.ma.us identifying the Quahsnet student and family member.  If you need additional information or have a family member coming, please call Mrs. Pagano, in the main office at 508-539-1550 x4189, with the veteran's name, branch, and rank.  Thank you for supporting this special event for our students and veterans.

It is important to be aware of three early release days this month.  Tomorrow, November 2, students will be dismissed at 11:30 AM for a teacher professional day.  It is important to send a note if dismissal plans have changed. Two additional early release days are scheduled for November 19th and 23rd  for parent-teacher conferences.  If you have not scheduled your conference(s) yet, please click the link that follows.    http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c48a4ae2ea6fc1-november  FYI - School will not be in session November 11 for Veterans Day and from November 25-27 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Have your heard about the book fair?  This week, the book fair will be open to students.  Book fair breakfasts for students and parents are being held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week starting at 7:30 AM. Thank you, PTO, for sponsoring such a great event for students and families.  Our library has been transformed!

Have a great week everyone!
Respectfully,
Mrs. O'Brien
