GROWTH MINDSET: WITH TIME AND EFFORT I CAN IMPROVE!
Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.  Never stop challenging yourself.

Dear Quashnet School Community,

Everyone is asked to wear PURPLE on Tuesday, April 15th, to show our support for children of military families.

Congratulations to Quashnet School Counselor Mrs. Greta McCue for being chosen as this year’s “UNSUNG HERO” by the Kiwanis. You can read more by clicking on this link.  Mrs. McCue--2014 UNSUNG HERO Award Recipient

Below is a letter from Mr. Palmer:
Dear Quashnet Staff, Students, and Families,
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the generosity, love, and support you have given me to make it to the Paralympics.  I don’t think I could have done it without all of you behind me.  You gave me the inspiration to go and do my best and represent our country.
Allowing me the time off, throwing the team an assembly, and holding a raffle for me were very much appreciated.  Surprising me with the “Welcome Home” was very uplifting and just what I needed at that time.  You are like a family to me, and I am truly blessed to know you all.  Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
David Palmer

MAKE ONLINE SAFETY
A PRIORITY IN YOUR HOME
Technology has changed how students learn and how they socialize.  Millions of kids in all age groups are online every day—at home, at school, at friends’ homes, at the library—and many are creating online content.
TO KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE ONLINE:
Discuss rules and expectations.  Use software that helps to protect kids, but supervise carefully, too. Only allow your child to communicate with people you both know when he’s online.
Set limits on screen time, such as 10 hours or fewer per week.  Remember that screen time includes TV, computer, and video game use.
Do not allow your child to reveal personal information online, such as his name, phone number, school, passwords, or location.
Keep Internet access out of your child’s room.  Only let your child go online if you can see what he’s doing.
Learn about websites your child visits and APPS that your child uses.  Are they safe?  Do you approve of their content?
Encourage your child to be honest with you if something inappropriate occurs online.  React calmly if this happens.  Report your concerns to the authorities.
Stay informed about online safety.  Visit sites such as www.fosi.org (Family Online Safety Institute) and Netsmartz.org for more tips.
