Student Art Work
Atsonia is a virtual place where students display artwork online during art class and often add written commentary. The link is included above. Please look for your child's artwork.

Summer Reading
Members of the Mashpee Public Library are visiting third and fourth-grade library classes this week to discuss opportunities and reading over the summer. Now is the time to start planning to keep your child engaged in learning and development this summer through fun experiences, literacy, numeracy, and life lessons.

Quashnet Theater Performances this Week
For 16 weeks, a cast of approximately 40 students has been preparing an elementary version of Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Performances are this week. All Quashnet students will have an opportunity to see the show during the school day. The evening performance, which is open to the community, is on Thursday, this week, May 23.

Boys and Girls Club Closes June 5!
B&G closes June 5, 2024. If you utilize B&G for before and/or after-school plans, please make sure you have plans in place for your child following the closing of B&G both to get to school, and for dismissal. B&G being closed is not an excuse for your child to be absent from school.

Third Grade Step Up Night this Week

Returning Library Books to the QS Library
Calling all Parents for our Kickball Team!
I played in this game last year and it was fun. We need more parents for our team. Please email me directly at eswitzer@mpspk12.org if you are interested and I'll add you to the roster. More information is below.

No Place for Hate Activity #3
I am proud to report that Quashnet is on pace to receive the designation as a No Place for Hate school through the ADL with the completion of our third and final activity this year. On June 3, a half day, students will complete activities with homerooms and their partner classes of another grade level to focus on how they can make an impact to make school a better place by respecting differences.

Field Day Revamped
Field day this year has been revamped to be an all-day celebration of the school year, to include all students and staff, complete with an opening ceremony, closing ceremony, and picnic lunch served outside.

Students will work with their homeroom classes to visit 22 stations throughout the day on a mission to accumulate as many points as they can at each station. One homeroom in each grade will be deemed the 2024 Field Day champion of their grade level. Examples of stations include Soccer Kick, Bowling Pin Knockdown, and Cornhole.

The date of Field Day is June 5 (rain date, June 6). On this day, it is important that every student comes to school with a water bottle and wears comfortable athletic shoes. All students and staff are encouraged to wear blue and white and Mashpee Falcons gear.

More information will come about Field Day as the day draws closer. I'll also be speaking to students about Field Day during lunches.

Recognizing Two Sixth Grade Students

Emma P., seen in the picture below, finished 51st in the country last week in her age group for BMX racing.

Jackson M. recently starred as Charlie Bucket in the Falmouth Theater Guilds' "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".

Both of these accomplishments serve as examples of the exemplary, well-rounded students we have at the Quashnet School.
