International Week this Week!

This coming week, we will be celebrating cultural diversity and global awareness with International Week! Our student council has taken the lead in putting together several activities for students.

Here's what students can look forward to during International Week:

  1. Food from Different Countries: Throughout the week, the cafeteria will be offering dishes representing various cultures. It's a fantastic opportunity for our students to taste and learn about cuisines from around the world.

  2. Hanging Country Flags: You'll notice a display of flags in the hallway between the cafeteria and gymnasium and another display outside the library. These flags symbolize the rich diversity of our school community, showcasing the many nationalities and backgrounds that make Quashnet School unique.

  3. Morning Announcements: Each morning during International Week, we will share facts and insights about different countries. It's a wonderful way to start the day with a sense of global curiosity and appreciation.

  4. Invitation to Participate: We invite all students to actively participate in our International Week project, which will be shared by the student council. Students will be invited to make postcards and/or posters from various countries that will displayed throughout the school.

Ice Cream Sundae Bingo - this Thursday (May 2, 2024)

On May 2, the Quashnet School is having its first-ever Ice Cream Sundae Bingo event. This event is meant to be fun and is free for families and students. All are welcome and encouraged to come. There will be bingo for everyone to play, and many prizes to give out. Also, everyone who comes will have the opportunity to make an Ice Cream Sundae!

Flyers with an RSVP went home last week, and so far we have over 115 students and family members planning to attend! You must RSVP to attend!

Decision Day

Similar to past years we are celebrating the Class of 2024 by recognizing National Decision Day throughout the district on May 1st by having faculty wear their higher ed gear to work. Students are also welcome to wear gear of their favorite college, a local college, a higher education institution a family member is associated with, or of any kind.

Math MCAS is in Two Weeks!

On Tuesday and Wednesday, May 7 & 8, 2024 is Math MCAS testing at the Quashnet School. Please encourage your child to take their time, and try their best on the test. If all parents can do this, that will go a long way toward the success of the school as a whole and all our students individually succeeding on the test.

Reunification Drill Follow-Up

This past Thursday, Quashnet staff and students completed the first-ever reunification drill. Everything went well. All students walked from the school to the Boys and Girls Club and the entire school fit into the gym at the club. Teachers practiced using their safety bags and we successfully completed the protocol in utilizing green cards to account for all students.

Student and Staff Floor Hockey Game

This past Friday was the annual Floor Hockey game. This was one of the best all-school events I have been a part of, at any school. It was my first time experiencing the game. There are a plethora of pictures included in the blog's picture tab for this year. A big shoutout to Mr. Williams and Mr. Morris for growing this event over the past several years and making it what it is today!
