Mashpee Munchables
I want to recognize our Food Service Director, Catherine Kingsbury, who is new to Mashpee this year. Mrs. Kingsbury recognizes how crucial lunch and breakfast are to a student's day at school. Not only is it essential for students to be well fed, but the overall experience in the cafeteria, interacting with food service staff, having options of what to eat, and portion size all impact a student's learning in the classroom.
This week Mrs. Kingsbury and the cafeteria staff rolled out the new "Mashpee Munchable" which is a choice for students daily beyond what is offered as a hot lunch. Many students chose to try the Mashpee Munchables this week and they proved to be popular and well-liked. Please know these are available to students. Examples are shown below.

STEAM NIGHT APPROACHING!
Mark your calendars now for the night of February 29th! It is STEAM night, which in the past has been our best-attended evening event of the school year. All families of Quashnet Students are encouraged to come. The event runs from 5:00pm-7:00pm and includes several exciting activities run by volunteers from our community and staff members. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, and all the activities are tied to at least one of these categories.
Some of the stations this year include, Marshmellow Shooters, Robotics, Rocket Launching, and Virtual Reality goggles to name a few. There will be over 30 stations for students and families to experience. I hope to see you all there!

A Reminder to Be Appropriate with School Staff
Most of you are amazing and super supportive of the school and we appreciate your collaboration when it comes to supporting all our students and holding your child accountable. This is a reminder to the select few that it is expected that everyone is respectful and kind to school staff. Everyone must recognize that no matter the disagreement they may have or the mistakes that are made, we can always be cordial and kind when solving problems. It is important to recognize that all our school staff dedicate their days to helping your children to the best of their ability with the intention of teaching and caring for your children so they become well-educated respected citizens.
Threats or insinuating harm toward staff members physically, emotionally, or financially via email, phone, or in person will not tolerated. Additionally, when meeting in the school building, professionalism and appropriate behavior are expected from everyone, staff, students, parents, and guests. Thank you for your understanding.
A Thank You to all Fifth and Sixth Grade Parents
I want to say thank you to all the fifth and sixth-grade parents whose children attended the social on Friday night. I really appreciate that almost everyone followed the directions for pick-up and drop-off. I recognize that some of you had to wait for a bit in the pick-up line, but we were able to keep all students safe in an orderly fashion in the parking lot and connect everyone with the correct guardian. Over 100 students attended the social and everyone was in their car, safely heading home within 20 minutes of the social ending. It appeared that the students had a lot of fun at the event!
