New Therapy Dog Joining the Mashpee Public Schools

A brand new companion has been donated to the Mashpee School District from Atlantic Subaru. This past Friday, a ceremony was held at Atlantic Subaru to introduce our new therapy dog. Our new pup, Subie, will live and travel with our school resource officer, Officer Hennessey of the Mashpee PD. Subie is a 15-week-old Chocolate Lab who will be in all three schools daily. Over the next several weeks, students will get to know the newest member of our Mashpee School Community as she undergoes extensive training to become a fully certified therapy dog for our students and staff.

Session 2 Clubs Start this Week!

It is hard to believe we're already at the time in the school year when session 2 clubs are beginning. They start this week and we are thrilled! All students should have received a paper notice this past week of what clubs they are in and attending. Please know that the first week of the new session of clubs can lead to late buses running a bit later than usual since drivers are working out new routes and new students are riding the late bus. If you can pick your child up from clubs this session, I do recommend doing so. The late bus should be utilized by those who need it for transportation home from clubs.

Concerts this Past Week

I'd like to give a big shoutout to all the students and music teachers for the fantastic grade-level winter performance this past week. It was very impressive to hear and it is clear our students have been working hard on learning their instruments and playing with an ensemble. We are so lucky in Mashpee to have instrumental lessons scheduled into our school day for students. I have included pictures of the concerts in the pictures tab of the blog.

Robotics Competition

We are very excited to welcome several visiting schools and see our Quashnet Robotics team compete right here at home on Monday, February 5. Please also know that the parking lot will be busy that morning. It is a half day for students.

eSports is Now Open for Grade 5

We have decided to open eSports up for grade 5 students. This was announced at fifth-grade lunch and students who told me they were interested had an email go home from Mrs. Ryder to confirm that it is okay for their child to participate. If you did not receive the email and your 5th-grade child is interested, please email Mrs. Ryder directly at fryder@mpspk12.org.
