February 5, 2023

Dear Quashnet School Community,

We are so fortunate to have three amazing, caring, supportive, and resourceful counselors at Quashnet School. What does a school counselor do? Everything! If you have had the pleasure of ever working with Mrs. Morrison, Ms. Maggiacomo, or Mrs. Lambert I am sure you would agree. Their caring, supportive, and can-do attitudes are inspiring to all. Happy National School Counselors Week!

REMINDER-
Monday, February 6 is an EARLY RELEASE DAY
Student dismissal is @ 12:30 PM

ST Math January 30, 2023 Update

It sure was cold last Friday! We received several calls from families asking about our recess policy and if the children were inside for recess. So it is time for an update!

We do make every effort to get the students out for recess every day. If it is raining, or if the temperature with a wind chill is below 20 degrees, students stay inside. We do utilize the gym on indoor recess days. Two classes per grade level are assigned to the gym on a rotating basis.

Students should always be dressed for the weather.

For your planning purposes - MCAS dates are below.  All students are required to participate in MCAS testing. Please make every effort for students to be in school on testing dates.

Quashnet's Got Talent!

We can't wait to celebrate all the talent in our school.  Come see singers, dancers, gymnasts, pianists, magicians, recorder and ukelele players, even a karate demonstration, and more!

The show begins at 6:00 PM this Thursday in the Quashnet Cafetorium.

A big shout out to the Quashnet Student Council who sponsored the first Social
in several years. With the help of Mr. Williams and Ms. Maggiacomo, the students planned a great event.
The karaoke sure was a big hit and enjoyed by all. Games, snacks, and balloons filled the cafeteria along with smiles and laughter.                                                                                               Check out the pictures and videos on the photo tab above.
Thank you, Ms. Maggiacomo, Mr. Williams, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Richards, Mr. Kehrl, Nurse Terri, and Mrs. Morrison for supporting this fun event for our fifth and sixth graders.

Quashnet has seven robotics teams competing in a VEX IQ regional competition on Monday, February 6.
They will compete against 4 other schools. A total of 22 teams will be facing off in the Quashnet gym from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM. These young engineers and coders have been working diligently to be ready for this competition. The time commitment is huge from building fields, setting up scoreboards, scheduling, and the overall preparation to host a competition.                                                                      Thank you, Mrs. Whiddon, our fabulous tech team, Mrs. Milde, Mrs. Hough and MMHS Robotics, and Mashpee TV for their support.                                                                     This is the first, of hopefully many, competitions to come at Quashnet School.

Congratulations to fifth-grade teacher, Mr. David Williams, on being named Ocean 104.7's January Teacher of the Month! This is definitely a well-deserved recognition for one outstanding and dedicated teacher. As Mr. Williams' interview is linked below. HE is another reason it's GREAT to be in Mashpee!  https://soundcloud.com/capecodcom/david-williams-is-ocean-1047s-january-teacher-of-the-month.

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.
Respectfully,

Principal O'Brien
