Dear Quashnet School Community,
Time to change those clocks! Be sure to "fall back" - it is nice to have that extra hour!
This is a short week! Monday, November 7, is an early release day from school with student dismissal at 12:30 PM.
There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Veterans Day is an important holiday to recognize the sacrifices of our veterans and their families. Visiting the National Cemetary in Bourne is a great way to honor veterans. The Town of Mashpee will honor Veterans at an annual Veterans Day ceremony. This year’s ceremony will be held at the Mashpee Community Park gazebo on Friday, November 11 beginning at 10:00 AM.
Did you know... "Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and November 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans—living or dead—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime." https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/veterans-day-facts
Tuesday, November 8, is a National election day with the Town of Mashpee voting at Quashnet School. Please be prepared for increased traffic and residents who are not familiar with our drop-off and pick-up routines.
It is that time of year that we partner with Mashpee Recreation to support the "Fill the Van" food drive. Please send in any non-perishable food or items listed on the flyer below. Any and all donated items may be placed in the front hall of Quashnet School.
It is SO heartwarming to see so many generous Quashnet students bring in their extra Halloween candy for the troops.
Ms. Manning and her team of K-Kids are busy preparing packages and getting them ready to send.
If you would like to sponsor a care package, it is $20 to mail one box and your help would be appreciated. You can contact Ms. Manning at smanning@mpspk12.org or come to the main office and we are happy to help. Being CARING is a Falcon Five trait and being an Engaged Citizen is building skills related to the Portrait of a Graduate.
