Last week, all students and staff received Covid 19 test kits. Please see the notification that went home with the kits -

Thanks to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), The Executive Office of Health and Human Services, the Department of Health, and Barnstable Public Schools for working with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to provide at-home COVID-19 tests at no cost to public school districts, including charter schools, approved special education schools, and collaboratives. These tests are intended for use by students and staff to support the return to school process after Thanksgiving and Winter breaks. We recommend tests be used no sooner than 24 hours prior to returning to school after these holiday breaks. Test kits are anticipated to arrive for Mashpee students and staff on 11/19/22. They will be distributed to all students to take home via backpack by their homeroom/classroom teachers Monday and Tuesday 11/21/22 and 11/22/22 and to staff in their mailboxes at their schools/primary work location by these dates.

If you are out and about shopping this week, the Quashnet School Student Council and K-Kids are sponsoring a fundraiser to benefit deployed soldiers of the 102nd Intelligence Wing at Otis Air National Guard Base. The flyer below lists some of the recommended items.  Thank you for helping us help others! 😊

Enjoy the photos and videos from school last week. As a school community, we enjoyed an informative presentation from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Education Department. The presentation was led by Cameron Greendeer and featured Tribal drummers, singers, and a variety of specialized award-winning dancers.  We are very grateful for this engaging and educational presentation and for the partnership with the MWT educators.

You will also see pictures and videos from a jazz presentation for Grades 5&6.  Thank you QS music teachers, Mrs. Hill and Mr. Felix, for bringing this wonderful opportunity to Quashnet.  The music was amazing and so educational for our students as we learned about the history of jazz music.  Thank you to the Provincetown Jazz Festival for sponsoring this free school program. This trio will be returning for another presentation for Grades 3&4.

We partner with the Barnstable County Sheriff's Department to provide the GREAT Program for Grade 5 students. Over the last two months, Deputy Cahill has met with all six Grade 5 homeroom classes to teach the importance of making good choices and the potential consequences when you don't. Students work through skits and engage in important discussions. Many of these topics are reinforced in the Health and Wellness class for Grades 5&6 with Mrs. Pimental. Thank you, Deputy Cahill!

ST Math Update

Jiji is on the move.  Check out this fun and informative video prepared by Mrs. Pimental and featuring several Quashnet students. You will also learn about our school ST Math goal for the month and year! Click the link below-

Looking forward to welcoming students back to school tomorrow  😊

With gratitude,

Principal O'Brien
