Dear Quashnet School Community,
What a weekend! I hope you are all safe and warm having electricity and heat. That wind and snow on Saturday made it even too cold to go out to shovel or play outside. Luckily we do have today to play, clear driveways, roads, and the schools!
Students delivered notes to the lunch ladies, Mr. Ty, our custodian, to teachers, each other, to Mr. Kapulka, and me. Kindness Ninjas were busy putting notes on lockers and students were completing Kindness bingo all week.
Kindness is so easy to give and a pleasure to receive. LET'S KEEP IT GOING!!!!
Educators are heroes. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education created this link, https://www.doe.mass.edu/amazingeducators/ to recognize educators who make a difference every day. Feel free to use the link to recognize your child's teacher(s) for all he/she does each day to support your child and learning. Students may recognize their teacher(s) as well.
GREAT NEWS!!
Quashnet kids and Jiji are on the move!!! Well done!
Confirmations for Session 2 clubs were sent home last Friday. If you did not receive it or have questions about participation, please contact Mrs. Ryder at fryder@mpspk12.org or call the main office at 508-539-1550, and she will be happy to help!
It is VERY important to notify the office if your contact information has changed. If you have a new phone number, address, or want to update your emergency contacts, please let us know asap. If there is an emergency at school, a sick call, or a dismissal question, it is important that we are able to reach a parent or guardian. Changes or updates can be made at qsattendance@mpspk12.org or by calling 508-539-1550. Thank you -
Grade 5 Parents/Guardians: Please be sure to read the letter that was recently sent home regarding upcoming lessons on human growth and development. In Grade 5, students learn about the human body. We encourage parents to preview the material, ask questions, and opt out of the lesson for their child if desired. Lessons on puberty in our school are based on biology - body changes and growth.
February is Black History Month! Over the course of the month, students will be learning about the amazing impact African-Americans have had on all of us. Over the course of the month, students will hear biographies of influential leaders such as, such as Rebeca Lee Crumpler, Benjamin Banneker, Charlotte E. Ray, James Armistead Lafayette, John Robinson, Alma Woodsey, and others.
As shared by Superintendent DeBoer, "Our Pre-K through grade 6 students will enjoy a different read-aloud each day celebrating black voices. The calendar of Read-Alouds can be found here." Enjoy as a family read-aloud!
The Woods Hole Diversity Advisory Committee also offers these free events to all those interested.
