October 24, 2021

Dear Quashnet School Community,

The Scholastic Book Fair is here!  Thank you to the Quashnet PTO for their hard work and planning to bring back the book fair!  The fair will be in the gym this year to allow for more space between displays and social distancing.  Grade 3&4 students will visit the fair during their scheduled library special.  Grade 5&6 students will visit the fair during their Health and Wellness special. The fair opened on Friday, October 22, and runs through Friday, October 29.

Families are invited to visit the book fair on Friday, October 29,

between 3:45 and 6:30 PM.

To order books online, please visit, http://www.scholastic.com/bf/quashnetelementaryschool.

If you have any questions regarding the book fair, please contact Amber Smith at qsptopresident@gmail.com.

4th Annual Book Character Pumpkin
Decorating Event

Friday, October 29, will be
BLACK & ORANGE Day
at Quashnet School.

No costumes, wigs, or face paints in school PLEASE!

Wishing you all have a safe and fun Halloween on Sunday!

Virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences continue on Tuesday, October 26.  This is an early release day for students with dismissal at 12:30 PM.

To register for a virtual conference, use this link:  myconferencetime.com/mashpee

Students are given the opportunity during the day to have a snack either before or after lunchtime.  Snacks should be a quick healthy choice. It is not intended to be a second lunch and please no treats, candy, sports drinks, or juices for snack. Outside of the lunchroom, only water should be consumed.

Thank you for your help and cooperation.

With continued COVID-19 concerns and other challenges in the world today, stress can build up.  One strategy is to use a choice board of activities at home to help regulate emotions and focus on fun family time.  Below is an example of a Brain Break Choice Board.  You get the idea - it can be engaging for the whole family.

Creating your own family choice board allows you to include your family's favorite activities.

Be sure to check out the photo tab above.  Students in Grade 3 STEM class were learning about friction.  Art students were learning about perspective.  Grade 5 students are experimenting with composting and testing two different types of composters. You will see examples of Grade 4 map skills on display in our hallways.

The Quashnet School K-Kids, a division of the Kiwanis Club, is working with the MMHS Key Club, Human Rights Club, and HOSA on a very special community service project.  Please see the flyer below for details.  Any and all donations are appreciated. There will be a collection box near the QS front entrance.  Thank you!

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

With gratitude,

Principal O'Brien
