September 19, 2021

Dear Quashnet School Community,

Our new flag poles have arrived! Hydroseed was planted where the old concrete was removed.  Quashnet School is looking better every day!

We only had one flag previously which proudly flew the American flag. Now that we have three poles we will be able to honor our country, state, and the Wampanoag Nation.

It's GREAT to be in Mashpee!

Quashnet School Picture Day

Friday, September 24

Falcon Five Student of the Week is back! On Fridays, as a school community, we celebrate our Falcon Five Leaders.  Teachers, staff, and administrators recognize individual students for demonstrating one or more of the Falcon Five traits of being Safe, Respectful, Responsible, Ready, and/or Caring. Students receive a certificate with a note from the staff member stating why they are being recognized, a pencil, and a wristband. We believe that positive behavior is important to recognize and what you pay attention to grows. You can see photos of the Falcon Five Student of the Week recipients on the photos tab above.

Thank you for your great interest in the Quashnet School Music Program.  We are ready to start next week!  Below is a message from our wonderful music teachers, Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Boyd:

Hello Quashnet Music Families!

We are so excited to have our instrumental programs back up and running! Due to the enormous interest of your talented students, we would like to give families the opportunity to avoid the Instrument Rental Night crowds by ordering their instruments online. Online orders should be placed promptly so that the instruments are delivered in time for students' first rehearsal on the week of October 5th.

The website offers many instrument choices because this company also rents instruments to our middle-high school students. At Quashnet we only offer “beginner instruments” for 4th-6th graders, which are violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, saxophone (6th grade only), and snare drum (6th grade only). Please only choose from those options.

Violin, viola, and cello should be ordered to fit the player's size. Please use the guide to determine your students' size. If you have questions or this is confusing, have your student stop by the music room and we will measure them before the order is placed.

Lastly, when ordering your student's instrument, please choose the "Deliver to School" option so that your student's instrument will be delivered directly to Quashnet School.

Use this link: Quashnet School Rentals

If you are someone who would like to pick up your student's instrument in person, our instrument rental night is scheduled for Friday, October 1st from 4:30-6:30 pm in the Quashnet School gym.

Please email us with any questions;
Alaina Boyd (Band Director): aboyd@mpspk12.org
Kris Hill (Strings Director): khill@mpspk12.org

Please be sure to pack extra masks with your child each day.

Masks need to fit securely over your child's nose to make a difference.

Grade 4, 5, and 6 students had an assembly this week to learn about the new Integrated Arts block in their schedule.

We are very excited to offer this additional learning period to students. Below is a graphic showing the options.

Schedules rotations will be shared with students next week.  😊

I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!  An early reminder: a week from Monday, September 27th, is an early release day with student dismissal at 12:30 PM.

Respectfully,

Principal O'Brien
