Dear Quashnet School Community,
We will never forget 9/11 and the impact it has had on our world. The Mashpee community came out strong on Saturday at the Commons. It was a beautiful day with meaningful remembrances from Fire Chief Rullo, Police Captain Rose, Selectman O'Hara, Congressman Keating, and others.
Quashnet School 6th grade ambassadors delivered a banner of appreciation on Friday to the Mashpee Police Department and Fire Department. The banners were signed by our school community members in remembrance and gratitude to our first responders. Pictures are on the photo tab above.

This is one small step in becoming an Engaged Citizen, one of the Portrait of a Graduate competencies. There are five competencies as you can see in the graphic above.
From the K. C. Coombs School to Quashnet School, and then onto Mashpee Middle-High School, Mashpee students benefit from a variety of lessons, activities, and opportunities to become productive engaged citizens. Use the bar code on this graphic to learn more.

UPDATE ON AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
We are working on securing late bus drivers. Once these positions are filled, we will be able to move forward with after-school offerings. I will keep you updated.
Your Help is Needed!
If your child brings a cell phone to school, it must be turned off during the school day. Cell phones should remain in a student's backpack or in a designated area in the classroom.
If you need to get a message to your child, please call the office and the message will be delivered. They should not receive or send text messages during the school day. This includes smartwatches or other texting devices as well.
Reinforcing this handbook policy with your child is appreciated.
Required school supply...
Water fountains remain off in school. Students need to bring a personal water bottle to school each day.
Students are able to fill their water bottles as needed. Unlike last year, we do not have extra water bottles available for students at school.
Fall Benchmark Assessments:
This coming week is our STAR Math and Reading Fall Benchmark week. Students will take online diagnostic assessments in math and reading that allow teachers to evaluate academic strengths and areas of focus for each individual student. STAR is adaptive technology which means the questions students are given are based on how they answer each previous question. This allows students to answer questions at the highest level they find success. It is not an assessment to study for, rather, it is important for students to do their best work, use strategies, and stick with it. The results will be used to help design instruction for students to build skills they need for individual growth.
I wish you all a wonderful week ahead.
Principal O'Brien
