December 12, 2020

Dear Quashnet School Community,

Term 1 comes to a close this week!  Each student's report cards will be sent home electronically on Monday, December 21, 2020, to the guardian email address recorded in PowerSchool. If you do require a hard copy of your child's report card, please notify the Quashnet office at 508-539-1550 and we will be happy to help.  For more information on report cards, please see the Report Card tab above.

We all work hard every day to keep students, staff, and each other healthy and safe.

As I was walking through the halls on Thursday, you can see these three third-graders returning to class masked and social distancing on their own without a reminder from staff.  So impressive!  Our students are certainly being responsible, respectful of others, and safe!

Thank you students for being FALCON FIVE LEADERS!  Another reason why it's GREAT to be in Mashpee.

Meet the landscaping crew from Upper Cape Tech who has been working on revitalizing the labyrinth during their co-op week. The work is almost finished and we can't wait to get outside to enjoy it. Based on years of research, walking a labyrinth has several benefits. It supports relaxation, it can help to lower blood pressure, and it can help reduce anxiety. What a great outdoor family activity to enjoy over the holiday break or on weekends. It is located in front of the school under the big tree. Think calming thoughts as you follow the stone dust path (no walking on the grass) to the center bench. It's a longer walk than you think!

Thank you to everyone who has sent in change to support the Quashnet for Change fundraiser.

We are well on our way to reaching our goal of $1,000 to support the Falcon Family Fund.  At last count, we had collected just over $800.  Keep it coming, every penny counts! Each classroom has a collection jar, there is one in the front office as well as at #WeAreMashpee in Mashpee Commons.

We are collecting through Friday, December 18th.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Every holiday season, Dino's Sports Bar, Mashpee Kiwanis, Stop and Shop, Mr. T's Auto Repair,  Barnstable County Sheriff's Dept., and others remember our students and families for the holidays. Through their generous donations, we are so thankful to provide support to members of our community. Thank you to the staff and families who have generously paid it forward for others.  I am extremely grateful to all.

This coming Tuesday, December 15, 2020, will be Mrs. Jane Emery Day

Mrs. Emery has been the voice of the main office for many years.  She answers the phones, welcomes visitors to the school, supports Nurse Terri in the health office, and has taken on numerous special events to benefit our students and families at Quashnet School.  Mrs. Emery will be retiring this week and is ready to begin her next chapter.

Please join me in wishing Mrs. Emery a wonderful retirement and many safe and fun hikes and adventures she will be enjoying coming soon! WE WILL MISS YOU, Mrs. Emery!

ON  FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, SHOW SOME SCHOOL SPIRIT AND WEAR AN "UGLY SWEATER" OR A WINTER/HOLIDAY THEME OUTFIT.

OUR STUDENTS LIKE TO SURPRISE US WITH SOME VERY CREATIVE OUTFITS BEFORE THE WINTER BREAK.  THESE PICTURES ARE FROM A HOLIDAY PAST!

Not to worry Mashpee Cohort, there will be another Ugly Sweater day on Wednesday, December 23! You will not be left out!

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.

Take time to see the beauty all around you.

Respectfully,

Principal O'Brien
