May 10, 2020

Dear Quashnet School Community,

What a beautiful day filled with sunshine and blue sky. A very deserving treat for all the moms.  I hope your day was filled with love!

The following recipe was shared with me from one of our Quashnet families who then gave me permission to share it with you -  a magical mindset!

"...for being the BEST medicine and just what the doctor ordered! So let me see if I can piece this magical recipe together. In a large bowl add a couple of cups of uncertainty, a heaping tablespoon of positive energy, a dash of good, bad and ugly, and just a pinch of crazy. Stir to a frenzy and the scrumptious messages that result and that we readers are eagerly consuming are as follows: Life is a big adventure, learning from a distance (at least temporarily) can be fun, and as long as family sticks together (social distancing of course) there is always hope and good things are bound to happen. At least that’s how we are viewing it from our perch. Not for nothin’, maybe “you can see love!”  The Auger Family.

STUDENT BELONGINGS - PICKUP SCHEDULE

Information shared by Superintendent DeBoer: "Families may pick up their child’s belongings on TUESDAY, MAY 19th, following the schedule shown below. Please note that this is curbside pick-up only--families are not to get out of their vehicles--a brown bag containing each child’s personal items will be brought out to the car. Note: Distribution on May 19th is dependent on it being a non-rainy day. Rain may cause us to change the date."

PARENT/GUARDIAN ZOOM MEETINGS

Zoom meetings being offered to parents and guardians are below.  Each topic will be facilitated by a member of the staff. For more information please contact Assistant Superintendent Hope Hanscom at hhanscom@mpspk12.org. Topics are based on the most recent family survey.

Special Recognition for Mrs. McBrien, Grade 6 ELA Teacher

It takes very special people to take the time to recognize others for what they do. Recently, a very thoughtful grade 6 student, Winsor, took the time to write a very compelling essay describing the impact her teacher has on her. Winsor described the caring and supportive nature of her teacher, and how important a daily greeting and smile are. She credited her teacher with building her skills and referred to a safe trusting learning environment in the classroom.  Thank you, Winsor, and thank you, Mrs. McBrien, for both exemplifying what school is about -  relationships that allow us to grow personally and academically.

Congratulations to Mrs. McBrien for being selected Teacher of the Month on 99.9 The Q,  Teacher of the Month Interview.

Thank you, families, for your continued support. Students, keep turning in your assignments on Google Classroom, participating in Zoom meetings, and be sure to let us know if you have questions or need support. I am reminded frequently through emails, phone calls, and pictures about the feeling of loss with this school year, missing friends, and connections. School IS community - and we need each other. Stay connected Quashnet and Mashpee, we are stronger together!

With gratitude,
Principal O'Brien
