Happy St. Patrick's Day Quashnet Community,
There is something new at Quashnet School! Introducing a new way to notify us if your child will not be in school. Send an email to qsattendance@mpspk12.org with your child's name, grade, teacher, and the reason for the absence. If you prefer to call to report your child absent, that option is still available by calling 508-539-1550 x 4155. Per the school handbook, absence calls, and now emails need to completed by 8:15 AM. If an email or call is not received in the office, automated absence calls will be generated to families confirming an absence. Only absences should be sent to qsattendance@mpspk12.org - for now, please continue to send in notes for dismissals.
Attendance at school is critically important. If a child is sick with a fever or has obvious ailments, please do not send them to school. Avoiding vacations during the school year is necessary. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education considers any student absent more than 10% of their days enrolled in school as chronically absent. Having just completed day 119, chronically absent students are those who have been absent 12 days or more.
Term 2 ends on Monday, March 18th.
Report cards will be issued to students on
Wednesday, March 27, 2019.
SEL - Social Emotional Learning
What is empathy and is it different than sympathy?
"Empathy is an awareness of the feelings and emotions of other people. It is a key element of Emotional Intelligence, the link between self and others because it is how we understand what others are experiencing as if we were feeling it ourselves."
Check out this short video that illustrates empathy vs sympathy: Empathy vs Sympathy Video.
With the days getting warmer, lost and found is growing. Writing your child's name in their jackets or sweatshirt is very helpful.
