Get ready - this week is Spirit Week at Quashnet School!
A reminder that Friday, December 23, is an early release day with student dismissal at 12:30 PM. The following week school will be closed for the winter break and school will reopen on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Everyone at Quashnet wishes our students and families a wonderful and safe holiday season. The next blog post will be Sunday, January 1, 2023.
The Quashnet School theatre group has been preparing for their big show this week, Alice in Wonderland. There are grade-level presentations for the student body and then on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM families are welcome to see the production in the QS cafeteria. Thank you Ms. Annessi, the group's director, stage manager, set designer, scriptwriter, etc. for providing this opportunity for our students.
We are so appreciative of so many generous community members who support our students and families during the holiday season. We could not do what we do without the partnership with Dino and his team, the Southport Falcons, Barnstable County Sheriff's Department, Mashpee PD, anonymous donations, and staff contributions. 💙 SO grateful!
Click on the link below to view last week's video on our puzzle progress. Thank you, Mrs. Pimental and the students for sharing.
A notice from Mashpee Rec -
There will be no After School Care program on Friday, December 23. Students who attend Adventure Club will need to be picked up at 12:30 or take the bus home. Please send in a note or email qsattendance@mpspk12.org with dismissal plans.

Congratulations to Landon Rebello (Grade 5) who will be the principal for the day and Lilly Riker (Grade 4) who will be the assistant principal of the day! Thank you to all students and families who sold tickets. All funds collected benefit Quashnet students and teachers. You make a difference!
Wednesday, December 21, is the LAST DAY to bring in non-perishable food items for this year's final food drive. Hamna Shakeel and Hannah Rogers, MMHS Project 351 ambassadors, are leading this district-wide drive.
There is a box in the front lobby of the school to place any donated items.
Thank you for your support!
Check out some of the photos (click the photo tab above) from Friday's Grade 5 Environmental Fair. Thank you, Mrs. Vitelli and Mr. Oakley-Robbins, MMHS Enrvonment Club advisors, and MMHS students who prepared multiple stations for the students to visit focusing on recycling, water science, and marine arts. Mrs. Mayen's organization was also instrumental in the day's success.
This partnership was a great experience for student leaders and learners.
School counselors, Mrs. Morrison, Mrs. Lambert, and Ms. Maggiacomo have been making many smiles this week. Their bulletin board design, Quashnet Students are SO Sweet, is both literal and figurative! How long do you think those candy canes and treats stay on this board? Well, if you guessed not long, you are right! They are bringing some added joy to the fourth-grade hall!
Gingerbread pictures and pasta dinner night photos can be found on the photo tab above. As soon as I receive the family photos from Lifetouch, I will be sure to forward them along.
Our food director Kevin Dellaciprete and assistant food director Olivia Bengston prepared a delicious pasta dinner, with a caesar salad, garlic roll, and very tasty cookies to decorate after dinner. Without their generous offer to volunteer their time, we would not be able to host this fun family event.
The Quashnet staff also came out strong to support students and families. The decorations were fun and welcoming! Thank you for ALL you do!
Has your child shared anything about gym class lately? Mr. Morris is teaching students how to shoot basketballs, dribble, and properly play the game. This is pretty special at Quashnet because up until a few weeks ago, the nets were all 10 feet high making basketball a challenge for many of our students. The new backboards can be lowered to 8 feet, and it has truly been a "game changer" per Mr. Morris and the students. The gym upgrade was part of a capital improvement project approved at Town Meeting. Very grateful!
Check out the new hats!
Students have enjoyed selecting their own hand-made hats this week and they look adorable!
A local retiree makes hats all year and then brings them to school for our students.
We are SO fortunate to be in such a caring community!
The hats have been outside during recess for students to select. Keep in mind - we go out for recess every day unless it is raining or BELOW 20 degrees with a wind chill factor. Dressing for the weather is highly recommended.
With gratitude,
Principal O'Brien
