December 11, 2022

Dear Quashnet Community,

Report cards go home tomorrow, December 12, 2022. Parents/guardians are requested to sign and return the report card envelope. The report card should not be returned. We appreciate your cooperation with this process. If we have received requests from non-custodial parents, we will email an electronic copy of your child's report card.

At Quashnet School, report cards are standards-based. Please resist the temptation to translate a standards-based grading scale to letter grades, it is NOT the same. For example, if a fourth-grade child is able to spell all of their spelling words correctly, that is meeting a grade level standard and equal to a 3. If they apply all spelling rules and are also able to spell challenging words correctly, that would be would a representative of a 4.  With that in mind, when a student earns a 2 on the report card, it means they are making progress toward achieving that standard.  Another important note is that if a standard is blank, that standard has not yet been taught. Should you have any questions regarding your child's grades, please be sure to reach out directly to your child's teacher.

Jiji is on the move! Check out another great video update on our ST Math progress with Mrs. Pimental and friends!

Quashnet Student Council Float - Home for the Holidays

A special shout out to the Quashnet School Student Council and their advisors, Mr. Williams and Ms. Maggiacomo - the Christmas Parade was awesome! Thank you to all who came out to help and support the team.  It was wonderful to see so many of you lining the streets at Mashpee Commons. Many of our Quashnet kids were on other floats including the Mashpee Wampanoag display and the Girl Scouts. Check out some fun pictures on the photo tab above.

A HUGE thank you to Botello Lumber for the use of a flatbed and ongoing support for the Christmas Parade - they are a valued community partner.

The table is set and ready to receive those fabulous gingerbread and sugary structures.  Drop-off is tomorrow, Monday, December 12. We are looking forward to seeing the display all week.

Classrooms have been busy building and decorating.  It is great to see the smiles and hear the excitement of the season.

Mrs. Stroshine's classroom was shaking this week! Check out the creative and well-designed earthquake-proof structures students made on the photo tab above.

Hands-on activities lead to problem-solving and creativity.    This activity incorporates the fourth-grade standards of Earth's Systems (earthquakes) and Engineering Design. Well done!

Thursday, December 15, is the pasta dinner at Quashnet School.  We are looking forward to welcoming families for dinner, cookie decorating, and family photos. Lifetouch photographers will be ready for 5 PM and dinner is served at 5:30PM. RSVP was required.

All students are encouraged to bring one canned or nonperishable food item to school.  There is a collection box in the front lobby. Pick-up is on December 21. Help us help others by supporting Project 351

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.
