Happy Memorial Day!

The unofficial start to summer is here!  You sure can tell by the traffic around Mashpee.  I hope you all have a wonderful "extra day" this weekend to enjoy family and friends.  When you have time please remember why we have this holiday.  It is a time to be reflective, honor, and remember those have served in the armed forces and have passed away.  We are fortunate to have the National Cemetery in Bourne so close to us - it is an amazing display of respect, honor, and recognition to our service men and women with thousands of American flags on each stone.  It is worth the visit. Mashpee will also recognize Memorial Day on Monday, May 29th, with a ceremony at 10:00 AM in the Veteran's Garden across from Town Hall.

Did you hear about Career Day on Friday? Well.... it was amazing! Thank you Mrs. MacIntire for planning and organizing this outstanding annual event and for all the support from Mrs. Emery, Mrs. Pagano and Mrs. Wunder in the QS office. Students are exposed to a wide variety of careers from outstanding presenters. Thank you to all who were able to take the time to share their careers and knowledge with our students-

It was great to see so many students who dressed the part.  It looks like Mrs. Schreiner is grooming a new crop of teachers right here in third grade!

Next Friday, June 2, will be the second annual WALK OF HONOR here are Quashnet School. Graduating MMHS seniors will once again be walking our halls in their caps and gowns while our students and staff cheer them on and congratulate them for a job well done! This is also a "FUN FRIDAY" Spirit Day so ALL students  please wear MASHPEE BLUE AND WHITE!

Please be sure to check out the "This Week" tab for weekly events and field trips.  Great pictures are on the photo tab - Mrs. Mayen's class has an incubator and are trying to hatch eggs.  So far it looks pretty promising.  Third graders rescued a confused frog and set it free during recess- it is also an amazing example of camouflage.  Students are building a marble run in STEM.  Book clubs are a hit in Mrs. Gorman's room.  There are pics from Career Day and student entrepreneurs!  Enjoy.

On Monday, June 19th, Dr. Chris Willard, will be speaking at Morse Pond School in Falmouth from 5:30 - 7:00 PM. This is part of the Calmer Choice Speaker Series.  We have partnered with Calmer Choice for several years to bring Mindful Education to Quashnet Students.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the Instrumental Concert on Thursday at 6:00 PM!

Enjoy the week ahead and happy June :-)

Respectfully,
Mrs. O'Brien
