October 18, 2015

Greetings Quashnet School Community,

Time for progress reports!  Can you believe we are halfway through the first term?  On Monday, October 19th, your child will be bringing home a letter with detailed information on how to sign onto PowerSchool to view your child's progress report.  We no longer print progress reports unless a parent has indicated they do not have Internet access.  Teachers will have updated all student assignments by Monday, 10/19, and will have entered comments regarding individual student progress.  If you have any difficulty with this process or questions for your child's teacher, please be sure to contact us right away. A copy of the sign-on information is on the Progress Report/Report Card tab of the blog.  Your personal codes will be contained in the letter going home on Monday. This does mark the mid-point of the term,  grades officially close for Term 1 on December 4th, with a hard copy of report cards being sent home on December 10th.

Parent/Teacher conferences are quickly approaching.  They are scheduled for Thursday, November 19th and Monday, November 23rd.  The following link will allow you to sign up for  a conference with your child(ren)'s teacher(s) at a convenient time.  Both days are early release days to allow for conference time and there are also evening hours.  If you have any difficulties with the sign-up process please call the office or send in a note and we will be happy to assist you.

We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Richard's, our outstanding art teacher, has planned her first family paint night of the year.  It is scheduled for Friday, November 6, from 6-8 PM.  To ensure everyone gets the attention they need, the event is limited to 50 painters.  We do encourage that students and parents each paint their own picture. Students do need to be accompanied by an adult. The link below will lead you to the sign-up page.

I would like to thank the PTO for another great family event last Friday night.  Crazy Hat Bingo was so much fun and the limbo really put the icing on the cake!  A special thank you to our two bingo callers Mrs. Palmatier and Mrs. Stroshine.  To continue to provided family fun events and support teachers and students, PTO does need your help.  The Yankee Candle orders are due on TUESDAY, October 20th.  The Quashnet School book fair is scheduled for the week of October 30-November 6th.  If you are able to volunteer, your help will be SO appreciated.  It is easy to sign up with the following link.!/showSignUp/508044eada628ab9-book/13974844

Be sure to check out the pictures of the week, the progress report tab, and the weekly activities.
Have a great weekend, and GO PATS!
Mrs. O'Brien
