Spring Gets Very Busy

With the clocks changing last weekend, and spring coming to life outside, this time of year gets very busy for families, students, and staff. School is no exception, and we have so many field trips, events, testing, and other important aspects of school in the next several weeks. I'll do my best to include important upcoming dates at the bottom of the blog each week, and I ask you to do your best to stay aware of what is happening at school to support your child in being ready and prepared.

Report Cards this Week!

Term 2 report cards are going home with students this Thursday, March 21, 2024. Please make sure to review your child's report card when they bring it home. We also ask that all report card envelopes be signed and returned within a week. Try your best to sign and have your child return their report card envelope to their teacher by the following Thursday. This is how we as a school track that students are accountable for making sure their parents see and review their report cards.

QS Student Council at School Committee

I am proud to announce that our student council will be presenting about all the amazing things they do to make our school a better place, this Wednesday at the school committee meeting. The meeting takes place at 5:30pm, this Wednesday, March 20, 2024. I'd encourage anyone who wants, to come to the meeting to see our student council present. The meeting is also viewable on YouTube.

No Place for Hate - Activity 2

On April 1, 2024, the Quashnet School will be participating in our second No Place for Hate Activity. In this activity, students will be making an Identity Iceberg (seen below), all about themselves. Students will discuss how and why we respect differences within the school community. Students will also have the opportunity to meet another student from another grade level and learn about someone they may not typically encounter on a daily basis. If you have any concerns about your child participating, please reach out to me directly, at eswitzer@mpspk12.org.

English Language Arts MCAS Upcoming

April 2 & 3, 2024 is ELA MCAS testing at the Quashnet School. The best thing you can do as a parent is to encourage your child to take their time, try their best on the test, and make sure they get a good night's sleep the night before. If all parents can do those two things, that will go a long way toward the success of the school as a whole and all our students individually succeeding on the test.

Quashnet Office Closed over April Break

Please be aware that the Quashnet School office will be closed over April break,  April 15-19, so do not plan to conduct business with the school that week.

Lost and Found

The Quashnet School Lost and Found is truly an amazing thing. It grows and grows every day, and with the weather getting warmer, students are leaving more jackets and hats outside at recess. Encourage your child to ask a teacher, recess monitor, or someone on lunch duty if they can check the lost and found to look for their missing items. Every several weeks, we donate what has not been picked up, to clear space. We are coming up close to another time when donating what has been lost and not found is necessary.
