No Place for Hate

We are excited to share that this week the Quashnet school has started on a journey to become a No Place for Hate school, designated by the Anti-Defimation League. Over 1800 schools across the country are considered No Place for Hate Schools.

This past week all classroom teachers had training and have begun to plan the best way to bring the program to life at the Quashnet School. No Place for Hate focuses on kindness, inclusion, challenging bias, and welcoming all students to school at the elementary level. So much of this we already do at Quashnet through the Falcon Five and in other ways that all students have known their whole time in the Mashpee Public Schools.

Students are not yet aware of No Place for Hate, as staff are still in the planning stages. To earn the No Place for Hate designation we will have three events throughout the year at school to promote inclusivity for all students. Families will be made aware of the various activities throughout the year. Given that this is new to us, this may take a few years to fully implement. We hope to hold our first event in January.

Falcon Bucks

Students may have brought home Falcon Bucks to sell for the PTO fundraiser. This fundraiser has been done for several years and is one of the best fundraisers for the QS PTO. If students sell Falcon Bucks they should give the money to Mrs. Tripp in the front office and it is then picked up in the office by the PTO president.

Last Call on Lost & Found Items

There are several lost and found items in the lost in found in the cafeteria. This ranges from coats to water bottles, and other items students have misplaced at school. Please tell your child to look in the lost and found during lunch if they are missing something and may have lost it at school. At the end of this week, we'll be donating anything left in the lost and found, which is done each season. We need to free up space in Lost and Found for the winter months.

Respecting Staff Boundaries

This is a reminder to make sure that all school staff are treated with respect and that their personal boundaries are respected at all times. We are so fortunate in a connected community such as Mashpee, within Cape Cod, to have school staff as members of our local community in addition to teaching in the Mashpee schools. If you see school staff members in the community outside of the school building, please respect their time with their families and friends by avoiding conversations with them about their work during their personal time.

We welcome conversations with all families and parents through phone calls, emails, and meetings at school. If you would like to meet with a school staff member, it is always advised that you call or email ahead of time and arrange a time to meet. That way you know the person you want to meet with is available when you come to school. Our office is staffed on business days starting at 8:10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. We do have someone in the office later, until approximately 6:00 p.m. on days that late buses run.

Bus Information for Monday

M3 and M11 will need to combine routes on Monday. The bus company is hoping to remedy this situation and have the buses divided back into two routes as soon as possible. Below are the pickup times for the combined bus on Monday.

A Short Week for Students

This week, Monday, November 6, 2023, is a half day for students. Dismissal is at 12:30 p.m.

There is no school on Friday this week, November 10, 2023, in observance of Veteran's Day.

It’s GREAT to be in MASHPEE,

A Connected Community.
