April 3, 2023

Dear Quashnet School Community,

Goodbye, March - Hello April!  The spring sun is feeling warmer and we see the shrubs and flowers around school coming to life.  It is a beautiful time of year to pay attention to the world around us!

Important notice for students who ride M9

Starting April 3rd KCC/Quashnet M9 bus route will be adjusted due to road construction. Please see the attached route changes.  Expect this change to last approximately 6 weeks.  Link: M9 - Construction Route

If you drive your child to school, please be aware of road construction on Route 151. It is going to be a challenge this week. Please plan to leave a little earlier in order to get to school on time. ELA MCAS testing will be administered on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, and each session begins at 9:30 AM.  Grade 6 and Grade 5 specials have been moved to the end of the day.

This is MCAS Week #1!

Additional MCAS information:

-Sessions are scheduled for 2 hours, but students may have additional time if needed

SAFETY/ALICE DRILL

As shared by Superindentent DeBoer in her Friday Happenings, "All MPS will participate in safety/ALICE drills on Monday.  Prior to each safety drill, all students and staff will be notified that it is a drill - an opportunity for us to practice action steps based on a particular scenario. These safety drills have been scheduled in collaboration with our two school resource officers."

This a great example of the PTO at work!

Ms. Annessi's fifth-grade class recently received these Wiggle Wobble Chair Feet for her class. This is a wonderful way to support students who may need a little more wiggling time during the day.

Thank you QS PTO for your continued support of students and teachers!

Thank you, Mrs. Morrison, Mrs. Maggiacomo, and Mrs. Lambert for this FABULOUS reminder and very colorful bulletin board.  Words can lift us up or really put us down. We can all benefit from the reminder that WORDS MATTER!

People may not remember what you said,
but they WILL remember how you made them feel.

Reminder: Monday, April 3, is an early release day with student dismissal at 12:30 PM.

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.

Respectfully,

Principal O'Brien
