April 25, 2021
I hope you all had a safe and restful vacation week. Can you believe there are only 41 days left of the 2020-2021 school year?
Together, let's make these days count and not just count the days!
The Quashnet School Grade 6 Student Council has been busy preparing for the Week of the World. Each day this week we will be learning about 5 unique regions of the world. The student council members will be sharing a slide show of countries within each region and interesting facts with students during lunch. With the help of Mr. Gus and the awesome kitchen staff, students will be enjoying food representing each region of the world. Students will learn about Asia on Monday, 4/26, then traveling to South America on Tuesday, 4/27, next onto Africa on Wednesday, 4/28, students will be learning about Europe on Thursday, 4/29, with the final destination to Oceania on Friday, 4/30.
Hannah Rogers, MMHS Project 351 representative, is sponsoring a children's clothing drive (sizes newborn to XL). A donation box will be placed in the front lobby of Quashnet from MAY 10 through MAY 21. If you don't have clothes, they will accept a financial donation to purchase items like socks, underwear, and PJs as they must be new.
Thank you, MPS Project 351 reps, Hannah Rogers, Skyla Rimple, Karen Mayan, and Andrew Kelly for your leadership and work to help others.
CONGRATULATIONS to the US Coast Guard Aviation Survival Technicians, or Rescue Swimmers, from Air Station Cape Cod who achieved a world record last Wednesday, April 21, 2021. A TEAM of eight swimmers set out to beat the Guinness World Record for climbing the height of Mount Everest (29,028 ft) on a versa climber. I was honored to be a witness to this amazing accomplishment. The time to beat was 1:56:08 and this extremely strong team accomplished this task in the record time of 1:26:20. WOW! Check out the photos and some videos of this event on the photo tab above. There is also a great video on Instagram @uscgnortheast. It is amazing what people can do with determination, practice, and TEAM work!
Congratulations to our own
AST2 Michael Kelly, father of Maverick and Finlee, on an amazing accomplishment!
Thank you to all who participated in the Stop & Shop A+ Program.
Our final rewards total: $8,546.16
All proceeds go to support Quashnet students.
Get ready for MATH Night! Mark your calendar for Monday, May 4 for a virtual ST Math Family Webinar from 6:00-7:00 PM. Have fun and learn with your child while completing puzzles on this math platform. Students at Quashnet use ST Math on a regular basis as it helps build a conceptual understanding of math concepts. Join the fun! The link will be coming soon.
