Dear Quashnet School Community,
This Monday starts our third full week of school, but the second week with the Mashpee cohort being in-person. We are very optimistic that the remote Falcons will be able to navigate their teachers' lessons well after being in school this week. Being in-person learners, Grade 3 students are more and more comfortable and finding their way around Quashnet. As you are aware, we did have some challenges with technology this week. We are hopeful that we are back up and running and all links and websites are working. We are so fortunate to have a fabulous tech team to help us all navigate through these glitches.
Attendance Update: Per the Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education, we are required to record daily attendance which is then reported to the state. This year, we do have a new directive. Teachers are taking attendance for their in-person students as we always have, but now we are also recording students as remote-present or remote-absent. In order for your child to be recorded as remote-present, they must participate in the majority of their school day. If your child is not able to participate in school, whether in-person or remotely, we are asking that you send an email to qsattendance@mpspk12.org. This way we can assure your child's attendance record is accurate. If your child is scheduled to be in school but attending remotely for the day, we ask that you send an email to qsattendance@mpspk12.org explaining the absence from in-person learning. This is a perfect example of, nothing is as easy as it seems! Thank you for your help!
PICTURE DAY is coming! Individual student pictures will be taken outside under the
tent on October 14th and October 21st. Information will be sent home soon including a specific time for our 100% remote learners to also get their picture taken. Get into the fall spirit by decorating a pumpkin as your favorite chapter book character. This year we are partnering with the #WeAreMashpee store and Mashpee Commons to display favorite stories and characters. Pumpkins will be displayed at Mashpee Commons between Ghelfis and Francescas from October 19-30, 2020.
REQUIREMENTS:
Click this link: Fill out the online registration form by October 12, 2020. This is a new step for this year and will ensure that there is enough display space available at the Mashpee Commons.
You may use pumpkins, gourds, or both
Absolutely no carved entries. Pumpkins/gourds that have carved, poked, or punctured skin will not be able to be displayed.
BE CREATIVE! Decorate using paper, glue, paint, markers, pipe cleaners, fabric, or other craft items.
Pumpkins/gourds must represent a chapter book character from a book that would be appropriate for students in grades 3-6. (see example below)
Drop off your pumpkin at #WeAreMashpee store, located in the Mashpee Commons, between October 13-18. Store hours: Tues-Sat 11am to 6pm & Sun 11am to 5pm
All projects should be picked up by November 3. Those that remain past this date will be discarded.
Questions can be directed to Kari Pons kpons@mpspk12.org or Consuelo Carroll ccarroll@mpspk12.org.
Each student who participates will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a prize.
Thank you Mashpee Commons and #WeAreMashpee for supporting this fun event! Thank you, Mrs. Pons and Mrs. Carroll for organizing this creative celebration of reading!!
