Dear Quashnet School Community,
Congratulations to the Mashpee High School Class of 2019! Saturday's graduation was reflective, inspirational, and beautiful. It was wonderful to welcome the Seniors back to Quashnet on Friday for the annual Walk of Honor. Students and teachers were thrilled to be a part of the graduation celebration. We will continue to support our Mashpee Falcons to Oh, All the Places You'll Go! Congratulations!
Mrs. Mayen and two fifth grade students traveled to the Boston State House this week as they received recognition from our state legislatures for their work and collaboration with MMHS on the SeaPerch Rover Project. Mrs. Hough and her MMHS students worked with fifth graders to design underwater rovers. Willowbend graciously
allowed our students to use their pool to test out these group projects.

Grade 5 students were welcomed at the Wampanoag Government and Community Center on Great Neck Road South. Students learned about the rich Wampanoag culture, made crafts, visited the bay where they learned about shellfishing, played traditional Wampanoag games, and they enjoyed clam fritters and traditional chowder.
Mrs. McKay's Grade 4 class enjoyed their excursion to Penikese Island and even had an opportunity to pilot the boat!
Last week was Spirit Week - there are great pictures from crazy hair, mix match day, 90's day, characters dress up, and blue and white day. All of these activities and more can be found on the photo tab above.
Last Monday, we had a visit from Stop & Shop with a very special delivery. As a result of the Grade 6 Student Council and Mrs. Emery's effort to enroll participants in the Stop & Shop A+ Program, I was presented with a check for $9,756.21. Thank you, everyone, who participated in this fundraiser! These funds are deposited into the Quashnet School Student Activity Account which primarily offsets the cost of field trips, special events, and the school store. We will again be requesting your participation in this program this fall. Your support is truly appreciated.
If you are looking for summer reading material, you are in luck! Quashnet School six-graders and Mashpee DPW have teamed up to make several Little Free Libraries. DPW cut out the wood. Quashnet STEM students learned how to use tools and assembled the libraries, and together they have been installed around town. The idea is to take a book and leave a book for someone else. The boxes are weatherproof and will be monitored and filled regularly. The one pictured here is out behind our school near the new playground. This was a collaborative project with Mrs. Whiddon, Mrs. Pons, and Mrs. Richards, STEM, Library, and Art teachers. Thank you to Mashpee DPW and Catherine Laurent for their partnership in this project.
Bus Reminder: With the Boys and Girls Club closed until summer vacation and not having any after-school clubs, the buses are extremely full. If students are getting together after school, please arrange to have them picked up at dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Recognition Awards are this Wednesday and Friday. Along with recognizing Good Manners, we will acknowledge grade level scholars (1 per grade level), students who have shown significant growth over the year, and those who participated in the Six Flags Reading Challenge. We also recognize perfect attendance, citizenship, and students who have shown consistent effort all term. You will receive a notification on Monday if your child is receiving an award. Wednesday's schedule: Grade 3 @ 9:00 AM GRADE 5 @12:30 PM
Friday's schedule: Grade 4 @ 9:00 AM and Grade 6 @12:45 PM.
