April 7, 2019
Greetings Quashnet School Community,
Five more school days before April vacation! We all need to keep the focus and work hard, as every day in school is important. Looking at this week's calendar it is packed! Field trip season is here with all sixth-grade classes heading to Boston to visit the Museum of Fine Arts. Mr. O'Connor will be bringing his Grade 6 Enrichment students to Harvard University's Museum of Natural History. Please join us in celebrating the arts and our talented students this Thursday, April 11th at 6:00 PM, as a new tradition begins @ Quashnet School: A Night to Shine, A celebration of Words and Music. On Friday at 1:30 PM, it is the annual Staff vs Students Floor Hockey Game. Always a school favorite!
Along with all of these great opportunities for students, we will also be administering ELA MCAS make-up sessions for any students who were unable to take it last week. The goal is to have ALL students complete testing before Friday. Participation in MCAS is required for all public school students per the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Mathematics MCAS is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8th and Thursday, May 9th. Only Grade Five students at Quashnet will be participating in the Science MCAS on Wednesday, May 15th and Thursday, May 16th.
Congratulations to fourth graders

As you will see, it was a terrific experience for all - and I am happy to say previous host families want to host again- thank you! I hope you will consider participating!
May and June bring multiple opportunities to volunteer for field trips and special events. If you haven't done so already, please be sure to stop into the Superintendent's Office to get your volunteer badge. It is an easy process and can be done quickly. All chaperones MUST have a current CORI on file through the Superintendent's office in order to chaperone. THIS CANNOT BE COMPLETED THE DAY OF THE FIELD TRIP.
