Happy New Year Quashnet School Community!
I am extremely happy to share that the problematic boiler at Quashnet School was removed over the holiday break. The ventilation system was professionally capped off and we are good to go. CO detectors will remain in place indefinitely just like smoke detectors. Quashnet is looking good! Thank you to the Town Manager, DPW, and all those involved for their fast work in this process.
FYI - We have not heard from DESE about our waiver request for the two missed days in December. I will keep you posted and plans will be in place ASAP to handle those missed days accordingly.
The Quashnet repair project is still pushing forward. The remaining window blinds were installed over break and the punch list for the contractor is still being worked on. We hope by the end of January all will be completed in regard to construction, repairs, and upgrades.
We will be hosting two upcoming building tours.
The first tour is scheduled for Friday, January 4th, for Mashpee Town Officials. This will be an opportunity for the Selectmen, Finance Committee and others to see the work that has been completed at our school.
On Wednesday, January 9th, from 6-7 PM there will be a Community Open House and Tour. The purpose is to allow the community/taxpayers an opportunity to see the Town's investment in our school building. It was with the community support that this $9,000,000+ project was approved. All are welcome to attend.
Can you believe it is yearbook time already? If you are interested in purchasing a Quashnet School Yearbook for your child, please use the link below. The order deadline is April 12, 2019. Purchasing online is the best option for getting a yearbook. There will be limited copies available at the school. The yearbook includes a school picture of all students Grades 3-6, many candids, concerts, special events, clubs and more. It is a great keepsake.
Yearbook ID Code: 9872819

Next Sunday, January 6th, I will be posting a link for Session 2 After School Clubs. Be on the lookout as the clubs fill on a first come first serve basis. Session 1 clubs END the week of January 22nd.
A couple of reminders-
Students received information on a reading incentive through Six Flags. If they log their reading time from now through February 25th they can earn a free pass to Six Flags. These passes are awarded at our end of the year recognition awards ceremony. Reading every day makes an academic difference for your child. A copy of the Six Flags reading log is attached to your Sunday email.
The PTO Basketball Game KCC vs QS is coming up on February 8th @ 6 PM in the QS gym. Practice dates are January 6, 13, 27, and Feb. 3. Contact Heather Lakatos if you are interested in playing and beating KCC - we need you! heatherlakatos@msn.com
School reopens this Wednesday, January 2nd. It will be a DAY 6. We are all looking forward to welcoming students back at 8:00 AM! Enjoy the rest of the holiday break.
Wishing you all a wonderful New Year!
Respectfully,
Mrs. O'Brien, Principal
