Parent-Teacher Conference Recap

Thank you to all the parents/guardians who met with their child's teacher(s) for parent-teacher conferences. The feedback I got from staff and parents is that the conversations were productive and beneficial. Attendance was high, and staff and parents got insights into how to better support students in school and at home.

Vision and Hearing Screenings this Week

Our school nurse, Terri Richards would like me to inform you of upcoming vision and hearing screening for grades 3, 4, and 5, and BMI screening for grade 4. These will begin on Monday, October 30. Nurse Terri will be working collaboratively with health services staff to complete these Massachusetts Department of Public Health-required screenings.

The screenings will take place in the nurse's office one student at a time to provide privacy.

If you have any questions or concerns or if you do not want your child screened please contact Nurse Terri at 508-539-1550 X4155 or by email at trichards@mpspk12.org

You will be informed of the results only if further medical evaluation is needed.

Native American Heritage Month Begins Thursday!

To begin Native American Heritage Month at Quashnet, all third-grade classes will be joining Mr. Darius from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe education department for special presentations on Thursday and Friday of this week.

These presentations go along with the third-grade social studies standards that focus on Massachusetts history.

Candy After Trick-or-Treating

Many students will undoubtedly go Trick-or-Treating this week on Tuesday night. Stay safe and have an awesome time if you are going. The school kindly requests that you reasonably limit the amount of candy your children bring to school on the following day. Please do not have your child bring all their candy to school or even a large quantity of pieces. One or Two pieces of candy to be eaten at lunch to send with your child is considered reasonable for school.

Of course, candy is welcome as a donation for the Quashnet School’s Kiwanis K-Kids Club Halloween candy collection for the troops. There will be a collection bin in the front lobby of the school to place any donations.
