January 15, 2023
Dear Quashnet School Community,
Monday, January 16,2023, is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. This National Day of Service is a great opportunity to reinforce the competencies in Mashpee's Portrait of a Graduate.
If you are looking for a child-friendly indoor activity this snowy/rainy weekend, third-grade teacher, Mrs. Porter, shared this notice with us, "The Blue Star families in Falmouth (families of soldiers deployed) are looking for students to make Valentines to send with packages to soldiers overseas. If possible, could students make some cards for our service men and women overseas? I will collect them by 1/19 so I can have them delivered on the morning of the 20th."
Students may bring handmade cards to school on Tuesday, January 17, and we will get them to Mrs. Porter. If a family member or friend is deployed, please feel free to send along their name and address and we will be sure to send them a valentine or two. Thank you!
A note from our school librarian, Mrs. Pons:
Be part of the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award Program. Every year, students in grades 4, 5, and 6 are invited to read and vote for their favorite book from the nominee list. Voting will take place at school at the beginning of April. To be eligible to vote, you need to read or listen to at least 5 of the titles on the 2022-2023 list, MCBA 2022-2023 list and keep track of those titles with Mrs. Pons in the library. Questions? Ask Mrs. Pons kpons@mpspk12.org
GRADE 6 Students and families are invited to the MMHS Program of Studies Night this coming Thursday, January 19, 2023.
This is the first of several transition activities that will take place for your sixth grader. It is recommended that students and families take advantage of this opportunity to learn about MMHS.
