February 27, 2022

Dear Quashnet School Community,

Welcome back to school!

It will be a new beginning on Monday for sure!

Starting on Monday, February 28, masks will no longer be required in school.

Breaking News! - Masks on buses are optional beginning on Monday, February 28!

Exceptions: MASKS are still required in the HEALTH OFFICE and for Tuesday COVID surveillance testing.

The masking signs are off our doors and posters have been removed from the walls.

Anyone who chooses to wear a mask during the day will be respected for their choice.

Hand sanitizing is always a good practice and will remain in place.

The lunchroom is a work in progress. Currently, students are all facing in one direction, seated no more than three to a bench, and are primarily sitting with their homeroom.  We will be making gradual changes to a new routine in order to teach expectations. The goal is to move to an open seating plan where conversations are easily had and friends can sit together.  On Monday, however, the lunchroom will have no change.

GRADE 6 Students and Families

On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 6:00-7:30 PM, Mashpee Middle High School will be hosting the Program of Studies Night.  This is the first of several transition activities for your child.  It is HIGHLY recommended that you attend with your child to learn about Grade 7, tour MMHS, meet the administration, and the staff. I look forward to seeing you there!

Have you checked your child's social media lately?

If not, please make it a priority.  Children are not always making good choices in regard to what they are sharing and posting.  There is a belief that Snap Chat goes away.  It doesn't!!  Often posts are captured and saved by other people and then can be easily shared. Posts that include other people's names can be HURTFUL -regardless of the app or who it is shared with.  Please discuss social media responsibilities with your child(ren).  When drama, bullying, mean comments interfere with learning, it becomes a school issue even when the activity occurs out of school.  PLEASE monitor any texting devices from phones, iPads, gaming sites, etc. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
