October 8, 2017

Dear Quashnet School Community,

Tomorrow, October 9th, there is NO school.  I hope you are able to make the most of the long weekend!

ACTION NEEDED - IMPORTANT!!!
Second request emails were sent out to families last week that have not updated their child(ren)'s registration.  This was due by October 3.  Starting this week -if the registration information is not completed - STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND FIELD TRIPS OR PARTICIPATE IN AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS.  Please take care of this as soon as possible.  Grade 6 field trips are scheduled for THIS week. Do not wait any longer.  If you need help, send me an email or call the office asap. The emails came from registration@mpspk12.org.
If you did not receive it, check your spam folder - just in case!  Thank you for your cooperation and support with this process.

Congratulations to our new
Grade 6 - Quashnet School Student Council officers.

President Marcus Clark
Vice President Charlie Jenkins
Treasurer Cooper Rozum
Secretary Caitlin Signs

Grade 6 students had a tough decision when voting for officers this year - all student candidates did a remarkable job representing themselves. Grade 6 did a great job electing a strong student council to represent them. well done!

Have you heard about Student of the Week?  Each Wednesday, teachers nominate students to receive this special recognition for academic achievement, by being a role model for others, or following the Falcon Five.  If your child comes home with a certificate, be sure to ask them why!

Be on the lookout for a notice from the K-Kids.  They are at it again to raise money for hurricane relief and support those in need. K-Kids is a division of the Kiwanis organization, and they work hard to support multiple causes throughout the year.  Thank you Mrs. Rastallis and Mrs. McKay who are the club advisers for this fantastic group of students.  They meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month and all are invited to participate.

Adult participation in Kiwanis, PTO, and other service organizations is a great way to be a role model for your children.  Being a role model is #1 in Seven Ways to Protect Your Child from Alcohol and Other Drugs according to this Massachusetts Department of Public Health publication. Consider: It is not what you say, but what you do that makes a difference.

Pet Food Drive by Eagle Scout William Baker concludes this Friday - drop off any donations by the front office.

Respectfully,
Mrs. O'Brien
