September 3, 2017

Dear Quashnet School Community,

WE ARE READY FOR A GREAT NEW SCHOOL YEAR AND CAN'T WAIT TO WELCOME ALL OF OUR QUASHNET SCHOLARS TO A FABULOUS YEAR OF LEARNING OF GROWTH!

The teachers and staff will be meeting all students on Tuesday, September 5th, starting at 8:00 AM in the following areas:

Grade 3:  Students should all be wearing their lanyard indicating their name, teacher, and bus number.  All third grade teachers will be in the back of the school on the grass by the bus drop off.

Grade 4: Teachers will meet students in the cafeteria.

Grades 5 and 6: Teachers will meet students in the gym.

After all students have arrived, the teachers will lead the students to their classrooms.  No student should go directly to the class. Please know, all hands will be on deck to ensure students are where they need to be.

The first week of school is an important time for students to get to know their classmates, rules and routines at Quashnet School. In the lunchroom, student will be sitting with their classmates initially and then transitioning to free seating soon. This allows students to get to know each other and build relationships as well as learn the lunchroom procedures.

On the playgrounds, students will meet our assistant principal, Mrs. Avtges and recess monitors for a quick introduction and review of the Falcon Five during recess. We are fortunate to be welcoming back Mrs. Phelan, Mrs. Milde, and Mrs. Paolini as recess monitors and to have Mrs. Mauro joining us from KCC.

In the classrooms, teachers will begin the year with community building activities.  A successful school year is when you feel you are welcome, have a sense of belonging, and when you are heard. Quashnet teachers value students, relationships, and believe in establishing a strong classroom foundation.

Arrival and Dismissal

If you are dropping off your child(ren) in the morning, please pull up to the very front of the line.  Drop off is a "live drop off", please do not park in the drop off lane or get out of the car. Students should be ready to get out of the car when you pull up. This is important for the flow of the drop off area and allows people to get to work on time!

If you are picking up your child(ren), you will need to park your car and walk into school. The doors will be open at 2:45 PM and you will be able to sign out your child.  Two staff members will be on duty to assist in this process.

Dear families, if you are sending in a dismissal note or any special instructions, please, please, please, include the student's first and last name within the note and the teacher's name. We appreciate your help with this.

Health Office

Should your child(ren) have special health needs, please contact the Quashnet School nurse, Mrs. Kristen Dwyer.  She can be reached at kdwyer@mpspk12.org or call at 508-539-1550 x4155. Medications, inhalers, EPI Pens, doctors' orders, etc. need to be updated each year.  You will be able to find more information regarding the Health Office at Quashnet School Health Office

If you have any questions at all regarding the first week of school, please do not hesitate to contact the main office, administration, or your child's teacher.  We are here to help and support all of our learners and families.
