THE TIME YOU SPEND WITH YOUR CHILD LEADS TO ACADEMIC SUCCESS
DEAR QUASHNET SCHOOL COMMUNITY,
“We
are not counting the days; we are making each day count.” It is so important to
continue to be focused on learning as we wind down this school year. Every day is valuable, and best effort and
excellence must be the norm—academically and behaviorally. With June being such an event-filled month, it is important that
we emphasize to our students and their families that participation in many
year-end activities is a privilege.
Almost all of our students are
excellent role models who consistently follow the “FALCON FIVE” each and every
day. They are respectful,
responsible, ready, caring, and safe. They
continue to give their best effort during the school day as well as on their
homework. We are thankful to them for
making the right choices and for making our school a better place. While we
recognize that no one is perfect and misbehaviors may occur on occasion, the few students who, ON A REGULAR
BASIS, display disrespectful and non-compliant behavior will not be allowed to
participate in one or more of the upcoming events. First and foremost
our purpose is to make sure that every student receives the best education
possible. We will not tolerate a
student’s behavior choices that regularly interrupt his/her own learning, the
learning of others, and/or a teacher’s ability to do his/her job. Parental support is greatly appreciated as we
help to guide our students to become better decision-makers, to accept
responsibility for their actions and words, and to learn lessons that will
shape them as they move forward and eventually become productive adult members
of our society. Learning from each small
step (or misstep) taken during the journey through school is very important and
can make positive differences down the road.
Last Friday's Career Day was an outstanding event! Thank you to all of our guests for volunteering their valuable time sharing their careers with our students. Thank you also to Mrs. MacIntire for her above-and-beyond efforts on this project/event. She was pretty much 100% responsible for every aspect of this very special day. Our students and staff are very grateful. (Don't forget to click on the pictures tab above. We have a separate Career Day folder filled with many wonderful memories from the day.)

THE TIME YOU SPEND WITH YOUR CHILD LEADS TO ACADEMIC SUCCESS
What if someone told you they knew
about an investment that was sure to pay off?
Well, there is one: Research has
shown that the very best investment you can make as a parent is to spend time
with your children. A recent
study followed more than 10,000 children.
It looked at what factors were most important in helping them
achieve—both at school and at home. Surprisingly,
they found that what happened at home was much more important than what
happened at school. They noted that
families could help children develop positive attitudes and skills that could
help them be successful in school.
To build these positive attitudes and help
your child achieve:
Talk
about school and why it’s important.
Show your child how what he/she is learning now will help him/her later
in life.
Visit the school. Continue to attend as many school activities and meetings as you can.

Check
homework. Be sure your child does the
work and then gets the homework back to school the next morning.
What happens in school is important,
too. And when schools and families work
together, kids are most successful. The
researchers said that both school and family are important. But “the role of family involvement is
stronger when it comes to academic success.”
Mrs. Kathy Webb is pictured here with Guidance Counselor Greta McCue. Mrs. Webb is the Quashnet School's "Volunteer of the Year." We are so grateful for all of Mrs. Webb's efforts to make our school better for our students, their families, and our staff. She is the best!! In addition to Mrs. Webb, we have many other wonderful volunteers who work very hard to make our school the best that it can be. We truly could not do what we do without them.
Sixth grader Diana Geoffrion is pictured here with Mark Balestracci the newly appointed Assistant Principal for grades 7-9 at the Mashpee Middle School/Mashpee High School. Diana was the winner of an IPAD at last Thursday's Step-Up Night for sixth graders and their families.
Parent and maternity nurse Heather Lakatos participated in last Friday's Career Day. She is pictured here with her fifth grade son, Camron.
