It’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years--  Abraham Lincoln

INTERNET/PHONE SAFETY
We are very grateful to parent Christopher Santos for educating parents who attended his presentation last Thursday night.  His attached Power Point presentation is an excellent resource for parents who want to learn more about the technology their children are using and also to learn ways to ensure that their children are safe when using the Internet and their phone.  Mr. Santos’ Internet/Phone Safety Power Point presentation is recommended reading for all parents!  Link:  Internet-Phone Safety Presentation

CALLING ALL EMPTY WATER BOTTLES
Please save your empty water bottles.  Mrs. Blount is leading a project to build a greenhouse at the Quashnet School using the bottles.  Quite a few bottles are needed, and we are hopeful that all families will be able to donate.  Please bring your saved empty plastic water bottles to our upcoming Math Night on Thursday, February 27th.  Your support is very much appreciated.

The month of February is officially designated as Black History Month by the U.S. Congress. What began as a one-week celebration of the contributions of African-Americans to U.S. History evolved into a month-long celebration to highlight the people and events of Black history in the U.S. and around the world. Learn about the amazing contributions of African American writers, poets, inventors, politicians, educators, doctors, scientists, and entertainers.  Also learn about the remarkable acts of bravery and courage of everyday African Americans throughout history.  A great site to visit is: http://www.history.com/topics/black-history-month

 SIX FLAGS "READ TO SUCCEED"
All students are currently participating in the Six Flags "Read to Succeed" program.  Every student who completes six hours of recreational reading by February 26, 2014, is eligible to receive a free admission ticket to a Six Flags Theme Park.  Student reading logs must be turned in on or before the deadline--2/26/14.
(Note:  Reading logs will not be accepted late!)
Don't forget to click on the "SY13-14 Pictures" tab at the top of this blog to view all the pictures taken last week.

With Gratitude,
Patty DeBoer, Principal
