Sign Up for Intramural Volley - Grades 5 & 6

For three weeks following the April break, the volleyball coach from Mashpee Middle High School will be visiting the Quashnet School on Tuesdays and Thursdays to run intramural volleyball for fifth and sixth-grade students. This is a fun opportunity and it runs after school at the club's normal time (3:35-4:20) so students who participate can take the late bus. It takes place in the gym after school. Click here and fill out this form to sign your child up for intramural volleyball.

No Place for Hate - Activity 2

On April 1, 2024, the Quashnet School will be participating in our second No Place for Hate Activity. In this activity, students will be making an Identity Iceberg, all about themselves. Students will discuss how and why we respect differences within the school community. Students will also have the opportunity to meet another student from another grade level and learn about someone they may not typically encounter daily. If you have any concerns about your child participating, please reach out to me directly, at eswitzer@mpspk12.org.

English Language Arts MCAS is this Week!

This Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2 & 3, 2024 is ELA MCAS testing at the Quashnet School. Please encourage your child to take their time, try their best on the test, and make sure they get a good night's sleep the night before. If all parents can do this, that will go a long way toward the success of the school as a whole and all our students individually succeeding on the test.

Night to Shine

Thursday, April 4, 2024, is Night to Shine at the Quashnet School. Students have the opportunity to share their musical, written, and verbal talents with the community, highlighting their talents in the performing arts. Several of our students have been working hard to prepare performances for our school. I hope many of you choose to attend.

ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) Training for Students

On Friday, April 5, 2024, all students will attend an assembly in the afternoon to learn about ALICE safety protocols to help in the event there was ever an intruder in the school trying to harm staff and students. ALICE is the official safety practice of the Mashpee Public Schools in collaboration with Mashpee Police to keep students safe from school tragedies.

Students at the Quashnet school, given their age, learn to follow teachers' directions, and either have the choice to Evacuate the building or Lockdown in the classroom based on the scenario and danger within the school. Alerting and Informing of a situation are also practices they will learn.

Although it is difficult for many to practice these drills and discuss tragic situations in schools, this is something that we must do to keep everyone as safe as possible. The following week, we will have a drill for the entire school to practice what they learn.

If you would like more information about Alice you can check out the official website by clicking here.

Solar Eclipse on April 8 and Eye Safety

On April 8th, Quashnet students will have the opportunity to view the Solar Eclipse here at school. All classes will go outside together to watch part of the Solar Eclipse.

For all students to keep their eyes safe, we will be providing Eclipse Safety Glasses for everyone and going over expectations with the glasses. Students will be expected to keep the glasses on the entire time we are outside viewing the eclipse.
