Let's welcome Spring with Spirit Week!

Congratulations to the following students for their acceptance to the
All-State Treble Chorus.  Well done!

"The All-State Treble Chorus provides a quality honor choir experience for selected students in Grades 4 through 6 who participate in their school’s general music and/or choral programs. The Massachusetts Music Educators Association engages the very best conductors who are recognized for their expertise with children’s choirs. The conductors select repertoire appropriate for this age level. The repertoire is varied, of a high-quality, pedagogically sound, and engages the young singer to encourage age-appropriate and expressive singing."

Quashnet dining al fresco! With the sun out in full force on Thursday and the temperature a little higher, we put our new picnic tables to use during sixth-grade lunch.

We hope to get a lot of use out of these tables this spring. It will also be a nice place for class visits to get some fresh air while learning.

VEX IQ robotic engineers are at it again! Another weekend competition for one of
the QS teams-

Nice job Jack, BJ, AJ, and Mrs. Whiddon representing Quashnet School in Medway. These regional competitions certainly build perseverance and provide excellent experience in mastering competition skills.

Math Curriculum Update:

The elementary teachers are piloting two new math programs, Illustrative Math and Reveal Math. You might see some new workbooks coming home or worksheets that look a little different than Everyday Math. The pictures below show fourth-grade students in Mrs. Lepore's class engaged in a geometry lesson using Reveal Math and the word wall in her classroom. Each grade level, K-6, is piloting different units and collectively will be evaluating all three programs (Everyday Math, Reveal Math, and Illustrative Math). Check in with your child(ren) to ask about their experience in math class and how it's going.

Volunteers needed! Coming soon - Quashnet School will be hosting our annual Career Day on Friday, May 26. We welcome parents, guardians, family members, and friends to come and share their profession with students. You can share just with your child's class or several classes based on your availability. This is an engaging day where students get to learn about potential career paths. Please consider sharing your expertise. The greater variety of careers the better!  Look for more information coming soon!

Reminder - Family Skate TONIGHT!

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead and a beautiful blooming SPRING!

Respectfully,

Principal O'Brien
