Yesterday, was a big day at Mashpee Commons. The Mashpee Public School store front opened its doors! Be sure to check it out. The store is located next to Cupcake Charlies and will highlight all the great things going on within our schools. If you are looking for spirit wear, the QS PTO has sample goods and order forms at the store. Be sure to check out the MPS Facebook page for photos and on the photo tab above.
Construction Update: The Quashnet School repair project contractor, JJ Cardosi, will begin to mobilize construction equipment starting tomorrow, April 9th. Temporary fencing will be installed along the back of the school, trailers will be arriving, and dumpsters will also be on the grounds. Actual construction will start after the power washing of the building this coming Saturday. It will be great to get this project underway. We will see workers on the site from 7am -10pm working double shifts to complete the project on time. Currently, we are estimating construction to go through December.
GAME ON! One of the most anticipated events of the year is this Friday, April 13th at 1:15 PM, the Staff vs Grade 6 in floor hockey. Teams of Grade 6 students play every Friday morning at 7:30 am competing against one another. This Friday, each team will rotate in to compete against Quashnet staff. Sixth grade parents are welcome to attend - but beware, a competitive spirit is in the air!
Thursday, April 26th is the Quashnet School Spelling Bee. It is not too late to sign up and start studying those words. Each year the word lists change slightly. They are generated from Scripps National Spelling Bee list and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The preliminary rounds are organized by grade level with the final round of approximately 20 students representing Grades 3-6. Families and friends come and support our spellers. It is always a nail biter!
ELA MCAS was last Tuesday and Wednesday. Although we will not get official results until the fall, I am very hopeful to see positive growth. The students worked long and hard. More students needed additional time to complete their testing than I have ever seen. They were respectful of each other while testing, working quietly while their classmates completed their test. Thank you for sharing the BEST CHILDREN ANYWHERE with us everyday!
FYI - All Grade 3-6 students will participate in Mathematics MCAS on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 1 and 2.
Grade 5 only participates in the Science, Tech and Engineering MCAS scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, May 15 and 16.
