December 11, 2016

Dear Quashnet School Community,

Are you missing something in your house?  Lost and Found at Quashnet School seems to be growing exponentially!   Help!!!!!
The lost and found is located in the cafeteria.  If you are at school, please get a visitor's pass from the office and check it out!  Putting your child's name in jackets and sweatshirts will help.

Have you heard about our Chinese Exchange Program? Well...what an opportunity to make new friends, learn a new culture, share your traditions and customs, and be exposed to a new language!  QS will be welcoming 24 students from Daxing District, in Beijing. They are all between the ages of 9 -12 years old, and will be arriving in Mashpee on February 8th through February 16th. If you are interested in hosting a student and/or you would like more information, please call Mrs. O'Brien at 508-539-1550 x 4186 or email at mobrien@mpspk12.org.

Congratulations to the new inductees into the Quashnet School Elementary Honor Society!

The Honor Society is built on the four pillars of Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. Fifth and sixth graders qualify for membership based on academic scores, referral from teachers, and character.    They will be working on service projects throughout the year.

There are two wonderful events going on this week.  On Thursday, starting at 5:30 PM is the music department's Recital Night.  This is a wonderful night that highlights the amazing musical talents of our students.  I personally look forward to it every year!  Thank you Mrs. Hill and Ms. Sherman for the opportunities you provide our musicians including the Mashpee Christmas Parade.

Hopefully you will be joining us this Friday evening! Family photos will begin at 5:00 PM - FYI - there will be a white background, and there will be some props available! Photos will be taken on a first come basis.  A pasta dinner will begin at 5:30 PM in the cafe. Following dinner, all students will be able to decorate a delicious gingerbread cookie from Ginger Betty's Bakery.  You may want to take the picture first! We will be serving dinner through 6:30 PM.   Be sure to check out the Gingerbread Village which will be on display for your viewing pleasure in the front lobby. Looking forward to seeing you then!

Just a reminder that we are still collecting for the Mountain of Food Drive and Hat & Mitten Tree through Wednesday, December 21st.  Drop off is in the front lobby under the Quashnet Falcon.  Any and all donations are truly appreciated! Feel free to bring a canned good on Thursday or Friday.

First term report cards will be sent home this coming Wednesday, Dec. 14th. Just coming off of conferences, I am sure you have a good understanding of where child stands academically. If you do have questions, never hesitate to ask the teacher.  As you have seen on Superintendent DeBoer's weekly notification, emails addresses are changing.  MPS staff can be reached at first initial.lastname@mpspk12.org (Ex. mobrien@mpspk12.org).

I wish you all a wonderful and productive week ahead with little or no snow!!
Respectfully,
Mrs. O'Brien

PS Be on the lookout for the Mashpee football team captains during the Patriot's game on Monday night! They will be in the stands along with the lucky QS Patriot basket winner, LaVerne Jackson
Go Pats!
